St Jean de Belleville is a small, pretty and traditional village hugging the shoulder of the Belleville valley and with gorgeous views out over the valley. Surrounded by trees and flower filled alpine meadows, it is an ideal summer base for anyone who loves nature and tranquility - walkers, birdwatchers or anyone wishing to enjoy the quiet. There are some lovely walks starting directly from the village with stunning views at all times of year, including rich autumn colours or drifts of orchids in May or June. However, hypermarkets and shops are easily accessible in Moutiers, just 15km away in the valley, whilst St Martin de Belleville is just 12km further towards the head of the valley with direct access to the Three Valleys ski area, shops and great restaurants, as well as every adrenaline packed mountain activity you can think of.
Before the introduction of the ski resorts in the Belleville valley St Jean de Belleville was the chief village and still boasts the Mairie's office and the post office with a small library.
